Weekend away in London

Hi guys,

Me and 2 friends want a weekend away in London.

We live in Exeter so will prob catch train up.

Ideas for the day

Shopping
Sight seeing
London eye etc.
Town in evening clubs / bars

We want to book the hotel up this month so it's something to look forward to. Where would you recommend that's quite central and isn't too expensive

Thanks

For a central cheap hotel, any central easyHotel, i.e. Victoria, Earl's Court, Paddington etc.
Just remember shopping in central London takes time, especially department stores like Selfridges and Harrods, a good 2 hours each I would think.

Unless you are really fussy about a particular hotel or location I would just leave the hotel reservation late and then go onto somewhere like lastminute.com a few days before. Try a dummy booking for this weekend to see the sort of deals are available (but remember it is the school holiday so prices may be higher than normal)

The exceptions are the likes of Premier Inn/Travelodge where you typically need to book well in advance to get the best prices.

What budget did you have in mind?

London might seem overseas to you in Exeter but most of the answers you need are in the UK holidays section !

    Look at Guoman and Tune.

It depends if that is for one, two or three rooms. For a room each you are going to struggle but if you don't mind squeezing in together then you should be able to get a decent 4* for that money.

Try www.superbreaks.com they are giving away a free river cruise in London if you book before 31st july. I priced with them 2 nights b+b in a London Travelodge for 2 adults and 1 child with top price Horrible history tickets in august at £279 and the free river cruise. Have a look at www.attractionworld.com for attractions in London it will give you some ideas even if you don't purchase. Oh and buy your travel passes before you go off the net as the queues to buy them at st. pancras are horrendous.

I'd second that, I've been in that queue!!

I'm in London regularly so now I've invested in an Oyster so I never get stuck in one of those queues ever again. Otherwise buy a travelcard.
