changing the completion date

We have exchanged contracts on the sale of our house and we are meant to be completing in 2 weeks. However my wife is heavily pregnant and not well and I do not feel we are going to be able to complete on the agreed date.
My question is this: under what circumstances/ reasons can completion of a property sale be delayed without there being any legal implications.
I assume death in the family and ill health would be two reason?
thanks

Unfortunately I believe legally even those things are not valid reasons.
I would suggest you call in favours and get your friend and family to rally round and help. Either packing etc or spending time with your wife.
Is she hospitalised? If not could you just do things around her, or let her go to a close friends for a few hours each day whilst you sort things?0 -

Could it not be said you were aware of both her pregnancy and the due date when you exchanged?0 -
Speak to your solicitor, who will advise you in no uncertain terms to honour your contract and complete on the agreed day.I am a mortgage broker.
