Morning, Need some help from you guys. After lots of thought (over 12 months worth) we have decided to get 2 kittens for the DD's (1 each).
SO need MSE tips on insurance, food, litter and all the various bits and bobs needed (a list was heading towards £100 with trays, bowls, toys, beds, blankets etc.etc. which shocked me) so any advice gratefully received.
The Range do cheap BBQ covers.
good evening peeps, (apologies in advance for my waffley post!
Lawrie - Congrats on the kittens.
Poundland do great washable fleecy blankets (£1) if they have no pet ones I've bought the baby ones before and I think last time I went to my local they also had trays/bowls. If you are looking for the soft beds TKMaxx usually have small ones for about £7.00-9.00
Food wise - although some of the more expensive ones Royal Canin and Hills both do specific kitten foods. You can sign up both kittens on their websites and they often send vouchers out.... worth signing up to see what they send anyway (vets may also give out vouchers at vacs/neutering - the one I work at does). Definitely go for a designed kitten food - kittens on adult food can have loads of stomach issues.
I recommend the kong toys. They are expensive but seem to last.
Insurance (warning - not an MSE answer!). Please go for a cover for life, ifcontinued each year a set amount will be renewed and provided not interrupted nothing will be excluded. Max benefit is ok but if one gets a long term issue the money may eventually run out. A twelve month policy although it will cover an emergency would not cover something like diabetes after 12 months. Check the ts and cs too. Some policies say max xxxx but then have a much lower per condition amount hidden in the small print.
My pets are on Petplan - I know its one of the pricier ones but working in a vets I see all the claims that take forever to pay, or that get excluded for bizarre reasons or cause problems due to terms (plus I've seen when people cannot afford to treat much loved pets). Petplan have been good for me so far.
Sorry for the really long, boring post everyone:eek:. Hope some of it may help!0 -

More potential Tvs A / Tvs S fillers (to add to the ones I've already posted previously), from the 'savvy buys' of msm:
Schwartz for Fish Classic Hollandaise Sauce (300g)50p
T Peach Slices in Grape Juice (350g)50p
T Pitted Prunes in Grape Juice (350g)50p
Swizzels Matlow Chew Crew (210g)£1.00
T Lasagne (600g)£1.57
Missing out are the T Chocolate Filled Crepes (8) at £1.00 (surely you don't need chocolate ones? Why not go for S Basics Pancakes at 20p?), the T Vanilla Pods £1.00 (not sure how big or small they are) and T Counter Cod Fillet £5.50/kg (surely A and S have comparable products even if not showing under the T product on msm?)0 -
