Advantage not working - need new flea treatment

My dog isn't due his next dose of advantage until the last day of the month but he has quite a lot of fleas on him. I always make sure that I put it on carefully and all of it goes on, he doesn't have a bath or swim soon afterwards so i'm not quite sure why it isn't working?
Can anyone recommened another good treatment that I could use on him please? He is rubbish at taking tablets so I can't get those unfortunately.
Thank you.

Advantage stopped working for my dogs too. So I went back to Frontline and the dogs are flea free now.0

Frontline stopped working that's why I changed to advantage. I think I might use frontline again and then change again at some point. Hopefully they won't become immune to it then!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

You possibly need to treat your house for fleas too, fleas don't live on animals all the time, they jump off into your carpet and soft furnishings to lay eggs. There are environmental sprays widely available .0

Use Indorex for your house. It's the best product on the market.
You can't just treat the animal, you need to treat the surroundings more.0 -
Have you checked the expiry date on the Advantage?0

I agree with indorex for the house! It quite expensive about £15.
But worth it, I tried all sorts of products bought in shops but can't beat indorex from the vet.
Btw I use Stronghold on my cats and have done for 8 years without them becoming immune. Bit maybe different for dogs.0 -
Will get some indorex too0

The vet told me fleas are gradually becoming immune to treatments like we are with antibiotics. Hence why Frontline isn't much good any more, or any of the sprays you can buy in a petshop.
I tend to use Program injections with my adult cats, they work by making any fleas sterile after they've bitten the cat. Quite expensive, needs doing every 6 months, but works well.
Another vote for Indorex for treating the house. (I've only needed this in a new house when I inherited fleas , and when I let the Program lapse due to the cost! False economy).
And for the kittens I'm using Advocate spot-on until they're old enough to have Program.
HTH I'm sure the vet must have similar for dogsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I didn't think about treating the house because I have only seen them on the dog and we aren't getting bitten but I will buy some spray tomorrow and try that.
