Improving credit rating after DRO?

My Debt Relief Order went live in Feb 2011. I was "discharged" in Feb 2012.
I was told I wouldn't get credit for 6 years, yet got a contract phone last Dec. I got this because it was cheaper than PAYG and I hoped that meeting payments each month would help to improve my credit rating.
Have signed up to Noddle and checked my credit rating. It says mine is "very poor" and is a 1/5.
Under lenders I have my mobile contract and my current bank account.
Under public I then have the DRO listed.
Does this meant that my credit rating is very poor due to the DRO shown under public?
Can this not be improved at all until Feb 2016? (I am assuming the DRO remains active under public for 6 years?).
I do not understand credit rating at the best of times, so with the DRO on there I am even more confused.
I would love to prepare in hopes that one day in the future I can get a mortgage.
By Summer 2015 I will be fully qualified and able to apply for a well paid job.

Start saving now. As the size of the deposit you accumulate may be the factor that opens the door for you. There's no quick route.0
