Printer problem

I have a HP deskjet 840c and ive recently replaced the cartridges, i tried printing something the other day and it comes out with the words on the left side pretty much readable but the rest of the words are unreadable, theres ink in both cartridges so thats not a problem, ive used a piece of kitchen towel to make sure if the inks not blocked and the ink comes out onto the kitchen towel,

Try a Test Run...

HP Deskjet 810c, 825c, 830c, 840c, 845c, 880c, and 895c series printers
Running a sample page
NOTE: This test does not work with the HP Deskjet 6830v and 6840 series printers.

Turn the printer on.
Press and hold the RESUME button until the printer starts printing.
Release the RESUME button.

Try the print head cleaning routine, several times if necessary.
If this doesn't help you may have to try other ink cartridges.

Well ive solved it, ive put in a brand new cartridge in and its fine, i might do a test run next week if im bored, ive got a hunch that because its been out of its packaging for some time the ink may have dried but im not 100% on it
