It just so happens that my 18 year old nephew saw the work being done (he assumed we knew about it). I've just checked with him and the guy doing it wasn't using a platform or ladders but was just standing on the ground. That explains a lot. I went round with my nephew ( who is 6'5") and measured their side of the hedge. At the highest point it is 1.85m and my nephew is taller than the hedge. 6'5" is shorter than 2 metres.

    Monday's meeting will be interesting.

Ok, I've just re reread your first few posts.

I think it was anger and disbelief that governed your initial response.

The mistake, in reality was yours, by asking the fire service to trim the hedge, they simply went overboard, sent someone in with the instruction to "drop the hedge a bit" and that was the end result.

No let's get real it wasn't your fault, you simply triggered a error in requirement , something got lost in translation between your input and the gardeners shears.

The fact that it had been kept by yourselves at the height you required for 12 years proves the fire service had no need or intention to reduce it's height, but I'm guessing they may have thought they would have the job to do again in the future.

The hedge will regrow, tell them you will handle from here on and if hubby can't manage it, get a local gardener to trim it on your instructions
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Don't worry Bri, the Fire Service will get nowhere near the hedge ever again.

Concerning to think that as a taxpayer, they are contracting to have a job done and then it is being subcontracted twice to cheaper firms at our expense, though. I wish we'd been at home. That's my biggest regret.
