potty training help (please!)

We're on day 3 of bare bottomed potty training, and DD is doing really well!! All wees have been on the potty (to much praise) and she managed to stay dry during 2 car trips and during a 2 hour nap yesterday too!
However, on Monday she did 1 poo on the floor, and another in her nappy just before bed - a massive, pyjama breaching one. Yesterday she didn't poo until I put her nappy on her for bedtime, and it was another really messy, pyjama breaching one again.
Any ideas what I should do about this?:o

Maybe try sitting her on the potty for a while before getting her ready for bed? If you give her a book to look at/read to her, it'll stop her getting bored.0

Agree with the above - when its nappy on time, sit her on the potty and read her a story and see what happens.
I wonder if the poo on the floor surprised her a bit (especially if your reaction was understandably a bit horrified) and so she's retreated to a situation she feels used to so is waiting for the nappy to go.
Either way (i.e. if she's just not sensing it right or is deliberately holding it) encouraging (maybe a bribe for the first one) her to get over that first step is needed. Worth always bearing in mind though that getting half way there and having the second half to work on with her co-operating is far better than getting too stressy about it, have her strop and be back at square one with her refusing to even try.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

I wasn't at all horrified or negative in my response to the poo on the floor, lol. She was very interested in seeing it and came with me to flush it down the loo.
Have been gently encouraging her today. Told her if she does it on the potty today we can make a cake - she loves that. Been giving her plenty of fibre through the day too so that hopefully she'll need to go before bedtime (she's a lot less receptive when she's tired). Will try sitting her on the potty after her bath too.
I am very calm about it all - would just rather help this bit happen before it becomes a major issue.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
It's often a two stage thing with kids being dry before they will even contemplate pooing anywhere other than a nappy. Some kids are a bit freaked out by seeing something solid leave their body.
With DS what ultimately worked was sitting him on the toilet not the potty and daring him to make the loudest splash he could

I had this with my younger son, he was dry very quickly at night as well as daytime but he just would not poo unless he had on a nappy, after speaking to staff at his nursery they said it was a very common thing.
We put a pullup on at night before bed and he would poo within a few minutes this went on for about a month and then suddenly he did a poo on the toilet (I never used potties with my two just trained straight on the toilet) one evening and that was it never had another problem with it.
I decided to use this approach because he had gone for several days without pooing and was becoming very uncomfortable but even the discomfort did not encourage him to poo.1 Sealed Pot Challenge # 1480

Yes, I agree with Nicki, wee training 9 times out of 10 comes before poo training and it's not unusual at all for a child to only poo in a nappy.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Thanks. I've ordered the 3rd one. We have numerous other potty training books, a DVD etc. She comes to the loo with me, so she knows what happens etc. I know it's all a process, and that it takes time.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
And as I typed that she poo-ed - 2 tiny bits on the floor - and she took herself to the potty but no more came. Big praise to her.
