Just got my letter advising my lovely Kipper (AKA my 2006 Toyota Yaris) needs it's first service as he's on year old shortly.
Unfortunately this is no freebie!
I've done the MSE thing and booked it online to get a 10% discount, but how much is a service on a 1 year old car at Toyota (making the assumption nothing's wrong that is)????
Thaks in advance x

I managed to squeeze three years servicing out of my 06 plate yaris when I got it used at 6 months old
So I need not worry about servicing for, ohh, another couple of years
Remember that car servicing doesn't have to be at a main dealer for the warranty to be upheld - these days they make more of a profit out of servicing etc. over sales. So look into doing servicing at a garage that uses Toyota Genuine parts - you will need to investigate this further but the only term of servicing elsewhere is that they use toyota parts. Good luck
P.S: You have a name for your car? :rotfl:0 -
the first year's service on a yaris is a minor service. i had mine at the main dealer and it was £150 ish
its the alternate years you have to watch out for- they are 'major' services and cost more- i certainly spent at least a couple hundred and then there was an inflated fee for changing the windshield wiper fluid etc,
the dealer will tell you exactly how much if you ring up.
as crabman points out nowadays you don't need to do it at a toyota dealer but i was a wuss and wanted to have a quiet life when it came to the waranty. so i paid up.0 -

That's why you bought Toyota0 -
actually i had to get rid of it because the mmt version i had became extremely unreliable and even dangerous. not what i was expecting. and it happened only a few months out of warranty.0

OK, When I got it my reg was gonna end in KOW and OH laughed at my car being a Cow, I made them change it to KPA and OH laughed and went from Cow to Kipper! So the name stuck... gimme a break, I'm a girl!
PS Wolfhouse.... £150 for the service! When theres nothing wrong? I'm gonna CRY!!OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
£150 for a service on a yaris seems steep - basically all it consists of is an oil and filter change with a few other bits looked at and checked but not changed. It's been a couple of years since i left toyota but then we charged approx £80 for a minor service.
I suggest you phone around a few garages and see what they say. Remember it doesn't have to be done by Toyota to maintain the warranty as long as it is done to the prescribed schedule and using genuine parts.0 -
i would second blue's advice and ring around. I'm sure you'll find a service cheaper than i did. or find one that comes recommended by your friends. the garage i went to had all bells and whistles- (playstation to play while you wait, free snacks...)
i hope you find somewhere decent and cheaper and see if you can fill up your own windscreen fluid before you go (i remember it cost me something like £5 just for that-
i felt ever so ripped off.
i really enjoyed my yaris when it was working. and i for one think the name you gave yours is cute.0 -
Oh and if you were to speak to a certain fishy sounding member here you might find he still has a toyota service stamp just knocking around0

That would of course be illegal. Toyota would see through it if investigated under any warranty claim, and it would be considered fraud when selling the car on with the falsified service history.0
