Non Paying Bidder Advice what to do?

Auction ended sunday, clearly states that payment needs to be made within 3 days of the auction ending. Winning bidder has 2 positive feedbacks - stating excellent basically, so gave her the benefit of the doubt as we all have to start somewhere.

No payment and no contact has been made. Emailed her the invoice on Monday, emailed her on wednesday to remind her of the "payment to be made within 3 days sentence" and to offer my help if she was having trouble. Have heard nothing from her at all and still no payment has been made. I have emailed her today explaining that I shall give her til sunday to be in contact or make payment, and if I don't hear from her will start whatever proceedings are necessary.

An really annoyed that she seems to have wasted my time, all of my other 12 buyers or so, have been excellent, all made payment within a few days or contacted me to send me cheques, and there is just one person who has spoilt my first go at selling and put me of.

Can anyone tell me how much longer to give her to pay or make contact and what do I if she doesn't pay for the items that she won - she didn't just bid and win 1 item, she won 3 totalling £30.00!

i'd get the contact details off ebay and give the buyer a call. if they're genuine they'll be moritfied...

I would give her to the date you stated then start a non paying bidder alert. As she has bidded on a few of your items if these went through she would lose her account. 3 non paying strikes and you are out. Then if the worst senario comes you will at least get your final value fees and can relist free. The link is below. You can keep a track of it in your dispute file which is on the left hand side of your account details ( below all the info stuff).
Some people dont read the terms of sale and never respond to emails - which is very fustrating. If you have a policy or pay or get a strike always stick to it I am afraid you will always get non payers.
follow link here and click on file an unpaid item dispute
You can also edit your buyers preferances which prevents some people bidding on your items ( i also use the stop people bidding if they dont have a paypal account preferance.) See this link.

    Thank you for your help.

It's really frustrating. There may be a genuine reason for no contact and not making payment yet, but what is more annoying is that she kept out bidding my other bidders, making sure that she really did win the bids! Some people are so annoying!

Do you know how long it takes for the whole dispute thing to be resolved and can I relist the items in the mean time or offer them to my other bidders who lost out as second chance offers, in order to get the items sold and sent on?

After you file the non bidder you can close the dispute in 7 days OR if they respond. If they respond you can claim your fees back there and then, without having to wait the 7 days. Once you get to that stage come back on and double check how to close the dispute as there are three choices and you only get your feesback with one. However you get your fees back instantly once the dispute is closed. Then just press the relist button.I would not relist yet incase she does decied to py and then she could neg you !
You say she biddded on a few of your items have you considered maybe she is not a serious bidder ? Sometimes you never know, but I would definately edit your preferances as you can stop people bidding on several of your auctions at once.

Thanks, I will wait until sunday and if she hasn't paid start the process.
I did consider that she wasn't a serious bidder at one stage, but only because she only had a feedback score of 1 or 2. But then, I thought, I should give people the benefit of the doubt, being a newbie to ebay myself.
It's a shame, because of all the items I sold it's only this 1 bidder who has (potentially)let me down. On the positive side, it was nice to discover that the majority of users on ebay are honest and decent. Shame about the small handful that aren't!

These are the steps I take (I used to phone them but have given up on that approach).

    1. Send winners notification within 24 hours.

    2. 3-4 days later send reminder e-mail.

    3. Send NPB strike at day 7-8

    4. Send the follwing e-mail (ok many parts of this letter are pushing it a bit!!!) after I can claim FVF fees...this really is my last stab at payment. It is my most successful method of catching the late payers.

    5. After this mail I normally wait 3-5 days and then claim FVF and lodge -ve feedback.

    Here is my e-mail:-

You have so far failed to pay for this item. I would like to now spell out what will happen if you fail to contact me within 24hours and ensure I have payment within 3 working days. You have entered into a binding contract which you have currently failed to honour.

    • I will make a “Non Paying Bidder” strike against your account which will ultimately lead to your suspension from EBay.

    • You will receive a negative feedback against your name which will highlight to other EBay sellers that you are a person with no honour.

    • I will consider taking legal action to recover the funds.

If you do not wish to complete this transaction and do not care about EBay by all means do not pay and face the consequences.

Your cooperation in this matter will be much appreciated.

Hard I know but with 10 at the unpaid item dispute stage I need to keep the pressure on.

erm, isnt 3 days a bit harsh?

why wait to sunday?, no one can pay on sunday, thats just silly, give them to monday!

personally, I give everyone 7 days, thats more than fair.
then file a NPB on the 7th day. then will wait. if they dont pay after 7 days, chances are they wont pay at all, so just let ebay handle the strike, file for your final value fee back and relist for free

I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

My auction ended last sunday and I stated within the terms that payment needed to be made within 3 days of the auction ending, unless otherwise agreed. I have given her until sunday which will be a week since the auction ended, so I think that this is a fair date to go by.

Why can't anyone pay on a sunday? All my other buyers did!

Just to update, she emailed me to say sorry she had not been in touch but she had been away, and she asked me if I still had one of the items, she'd won. I emailed her back to explain that I still had all 3 items waiting to post, once she had paid. I was very polite but firm and explained that I would give her till the end of Wednesday (yesterday) to make payment, as she had been away and if she was having trouble, then for her to contact me. No response.
However, I checked her ebay activity yesterday and it seems that she has been buying and selling on ebay all week, so she clearly hasn't been anywhere that would prevent her from paying!
Anyway, i emailed her again last night and explained that I would be taking the non paying action on all 3 items and still haven't heard a peep from her. Have just started the non paying dispute action, so will keep you updated.

A complete waste of my time but hey ho x

Your own terms and conditions cannot override those of ebay and ebay say you cannot start the NPB process until at least day 7.

I think requiring payment within 3 days is very harsh especially if you have cheques listed as a payment option. I routinely receive cheques on day 10 or later.

Personally I don't even send my first reminder until day 7 and then I only send a second copy of the invoice asking buyers to contact me if they have any problems making payment.
