Dont have to maintain either boundary , really ?

I have asked my solicitor to check this but just interested in if this would be likely really , we are buying an end of terrace house , but the gardens on both sides , still meet each other , on the PIF form the seller has stated that the boundary on the left is maintained by the neighbour and also , that the boundary on the right , is also maintained by that neighbour , for info , the neighbour on the end of terrace side , has a house connected to theirs
Can this be possible?

On the water meter bit not every house is metered. So that house just may not be.0

cant see this property being on rates to be honest , but i will obviously soon find outNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

If there is a plan of the plot with the deeds, then this may well show who is responsible for maintaining boundary fences. Be aware that just because both neighbours are maintaining the respective boundary fences it does not mean that they are legally obliged to. They may have chosen to erect a fence of their liking, rather than look at one (since removed) supplied by a previous owner of your house
If the property has a water meter there will usually be a small circular or square metal or even plastic "cover" in the pavement just outside the house. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I have the deeds from my conveyancer and it really isnt clear , i would expect to have to go halfs or whatever in the future with ONE of the neighbours in any case , just dont know which side!Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

IIRC A boundary can be maintained simply by those responsible for maintaining it laying a line of bricks along it as a marker..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

That`s fine , but what i really cant understand is how a house can sit there , in a shared area so to speak and apparently not have any obligations to its side boundarys , doesnt seem right
I wont lose sleep over it tho , i was just curious reallyNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -

If you're only prepared to go halves, then shouldn't you be expecting to do it on BOTH sides ?0 -
Good point. ...I think I meant happy to cover one side
I blame the heatNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
why not go ask the neighbour how this works
the previous owners may have had some kind of arrangement with the neighbours that will not apply once you move in
best to find out now , that way everyone knows where they stand0
