how to fill a hole in a wall

Hi
whats the best way to fill a large hole in a wall (aprox 5 inches in diameter)...its in the kitchen wall and goes right through to the garage (as in you can see the garage from the kitchen through the big hole).
its to allow the washing machine down pipe to go to the garage, so I need to put a pipe through before filling the hole.
will normal hole fillers do the trick ? how do I stop the filler from falling out from the other end (as theres no wall behind the hole if you know what I mean)?
Thanks

Try that expanding foam filler, let it dry and then cut away all the overfill with a saw. Good luck0

Piece of plasterboard slightly bigger than the hole. Tie a piece of string through it. Glue or no nail to the board and on an angle put the board through the hole and pull on the string so that the no nails adheres to the wall. Once dry cut string and apply filler, plaster, easyfill whatever takes your fancy.
Or you can buy plasterboard patches which is a metal mesh and scrim that sticks to the wall. Then easyfill over and blend in with existing wall. Quite expensive but great for the job.

Yes it will, but it will leave enough in the hole to form a seal when it expands, you can't help a little over flow. Trim it as above.
In your application it's fine, if the foam was exposed to ultra violet light it would be a no no, it' disintegrates in a couple of years under exposure to day light.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

And before pedantic brigade come just cut into the plasterboard to thread the pipe through then fill or use a few patches altered to suit.
I would go the plasterboard way. Quick and easy and completely blend in with the wall.0 -
What is the wall made of? A 5 inch diameter hole for a wasing machine down pipe sounds rather large - why did you make such a big hole?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

And if he doesn't have any plasterboard handy just fill it and trim off? :money::money: remember.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
