Hello,
I am planning to travel to turkey next month but cant seems to get the days right, so thought of discusing here :A
Plan is to leave here on 22nd Aug and come back on 28th Aug. I am more into culture/heritage stuff so would want to see Istanbul and (either Cappadocia or Ephesus). Plan is to reach Istanbul on 22nd, and then leave for 2nd destination on 24th and come back to istanbul on 26th and then come back home on 28th Aug.
I havent researched much about Ephesus but Capadocia seems interesting place but my only worry is their isnt much info about how to get around in Capadocia. I know i need to fly from Istanbul to kayseri and then what??.
Is Capadocia a small town? I know it is divided into some section like North, South and Valley. Are all these area accessable by public transport or tourists take some other options to go through all of them?
Can anyone who has been there please share their experience?
Another question i have is, how far are Istanbul two airports from each other? As domestic flights are cheaper from 'Istanbul - S.Gokcen' airport and International to 'Ataturk'. Dont want to travell hour and hours just getting to-from airports.
Thanks for reading.

Since you only have a week, I suggest you stick to Istanbul. I had a fantastic week there once, and certainly did not have time to see and do all the cultural and historical stuff that I wanted.
Cappadocia is a complete region, with small towns and villages that are of interest. Again, it deserves the best part of a week. Rather than messing about with domestic flights, plan a separate holiday for this region, flying in to Ankara or Antalya rather than Istanbul (which is a very long way away).0 -
Agree with Voyager.
Cappadocia is a large region. The scenery is a world one-off. As soon as you arrive you'll immediately have a smile on your face, and it'll stay there until you leave. It's best to base yourself in either Goreme or Urgup.
Getting from Nevesir Airport is simple by shuttle (easy to Goggle).
Travelling round is easy and inexpensive by dolmus (minibus).
The height of summer isn't really a good time to go as you'll roast!
Istanbul will be roasting and mobbed in August too.
Everywhere in Turkey will be roasting.
April/May/June/October/November are best.
But if you want to roast then go for it!
Borrow a copy of Lonely Planet or Rough Guide from your local library. Let it be your guide but not your bible.
If you want people to share their experiences then rather than asking us to be your personal travel planner, why not have a look on the Trip Advisor Discussion forums for Istanbul, Ankara, Cappadocia, and anywhere else you might fancy.
You'll find all the information [and more] at your fingertips by doing a few searches on the forums, or reading through a few threads.
Ataturk airport is easy reached from the centre of Istanbul by tram or bus.
Sabiha Gokcen is 50-odd kms away from the centre on the Asian side. It's easy to reach though by pre-booked Havas shuttle buses, or publlic transport which is much more fun, ie public bus, ferry, and tram. Takes about 90 minutes by public transport, and it's a mini-adventure but also a great introduction to the sheer size of Istanbul.0
