When I scroll down using my mouse wheel the curser keeps trying to travel up.

Can some please tell what is wrong and how to correct it?

Is it a ball or optical mouse? If its a ball, the ball/rollers inside may need a good clean.

If not, then it's new mouse time. And make sure it's an optical one.

The first thing I'd try is replacing the batteries, if you don't have replacements at least take the existing ones out and put them back in again, that will reset the mouse.

Secondly, does it scroll down if you try to scroll up? If it does, you don't mention the make of the mouse, but presumably you got some software with it. Check in that and make sure the wheel settings haven't been changed to make it scroll in the opposite direction.

I have change the battery - it is a Tesco Mouse and if you keep scrolling down it goes up at first but eventually scrolls down in a jerky way.

It does sound like a faulty mouse. There isn't much you can do to fix it unfortunately.

    Is it under guarantee still?

Thank you I think it might - I'll have a look - I think it was only about £5-6

    That explains it then.

I had a very similar problem with my optical (not wireless mouse). Bought a new one from Amazon for £2.50 + free postage. Problem gone.
