Problems uploading photos to iPad

I've just tried to upload some photos from my Canon EOS 1100D to my iPad using the genuine Apple camera connection kit, the problem I am having is that it will upload everything taken in landscape ie camera held horizontal but refuses to upload anything taken portrait ie camera held vertically, any ideas why? The only reason I'm putting some on my iPad is because I'm on holiday and was trying to share some photos I've taken.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

Cant really suggest anything, but are you using the usb lead connector, or the card reader connector? it might have an effect, so would suggest you try the other versus the first one.
I've transferred with fuji camera, and now panasonic one (landscape & portrait) fine using mine with ipad 2 (then also a lightning adaptor on top for ipad mini)0
