Changing car insurance while claim still ongoing.

Hi all

I had a car accident which was not my fault in Nov 2012 and currently have a personal injury claim ongoing.

My insurance is now due for renewal and I normally shop around and switch to cheaper company on a yearly basis.

Does anyone know if I can change insurers while I still have a personal injury ongoing with my current insurers legal team? The claim for damage to my car has already been settled.

Thanks

  • Yes you can switch. You have to be careful about the number of NCD years you put in, and you have to get the claim details correct too. Most places treat all open claims as fault claims, so you lose NCD until the case is settled, at which point you get it back.

    Thanks for that info.

I'm busy getting quotes from comparison sites, I'm assuming that if I put in that I have 7 years protected No claims and details of the accident, it will work that all out for me?
