I go halfway.....
I used a "man and van" service last time I moved - they collected the contents of a 3 bed house from storage on the West coast and drove it to the East coast (120 miles each way) and delivered it into the gagrae - £300 all in - including the insurance and 2 men!
They even stopped on the way to collect a large item from a garden centre for me.
Ok - we are "up north" tho.....
Nothing was damaged or broken - but the house contents had been in storage so there was nothing valuable in there - only furniture etc.
My parents used a pro removal company to move less than a mile - cost them nearly £1000!!!

I would say get the professionals in, and get them to pack it too! It's really worth the money.
We watched a move from hell taking place opposite us 3 years ago. People moving out of a 4 bed house had loaded some of their stuff in a box van, trouble was they obviously didn't have the keys for the new place. By the time they did, the people moving in were on the doorstep wanting to get their stuff in. In the end the people moving in (with their removals company clock ticking at their expense) had their stuff dumped in the garage and on the drive and they ended up helping the people moving out load up the box van several times. It wasn't til the evening before they could start getting their stuff into the house.
I think we paid about £150 more than the standard removal cost for the removal company to pack our stuff for us. It certainly beat the several weeks of packing it took me the previous move.Make £2025 in 2025

Don't self move, unless you have next to no possessions. Whatever they charge to move you is worth it.0
