Will an incorrect P60 affect my claim for tax credits?

I have recently split from my partner and am just starting to look into what tax credits might be available to me as a Mum of 2 (aged 4 and 1).
My P60 is showing that I earned £5,500 more than I actually did in April - August 2012. This could be because I was on maternity leave at this time and was made redundant. Initially my previous employers wrongly taxed my redundancy pay and eventually reimbursed me £1,500 but without reissuing a payslip. The P 60 also shows that I didn't receive any weeks maternity pay when I received at least 20. Will this affect my tax credit claim?
I have tried contacting my previous employers' payroll but have had no reply. I think they've been restructured as part of the NHS shake up.
I have all my payslips covering the last financial year including the erroneous one which was never corrected. Should I just send copies of all of these with my claim? I desperately need to make a claim and receive money due to me and my family.
Any help gratefully received.

It could cause you problems. I'd want it fixed asap.
If you provide it for any reason it will cause a problem.
I would also be concerned as to what has/ not been paid and reported.
As long as you tell the truth on the claim, I can't see why you should not proceed, but again you may be asked questions because of the same.0
