can he claim?

Options
back in 1998 my husband took out a credit card, ppi was sold to him when he activated the card. he was asked if he was employed which he was at the time of taking out the card and ppi.
in 2001 he became self employed, during this time we got into difficulty making regular monthly payments but managed to do so.by borrowing more money on a loan. in 2008 we couldnt pay a couple of payments and were getting regular evening phonecalls demanding money. it was during one of these calls when i was tearfully telling the man i couldnt afford to pay that he asked why i didnt cancel the ppi as this was nearly 100 pound per month.
i said i didnt know we could do this and he said i could.
my point is that when i was sold the ppi i was not given enough information about the exclusions and cancellation policies and for 7 years i wasnt covered but didnt know it.
it sounds daft but i thought they asked you if you were employed so that you could afford the repayments
do u think we have a claim,as it was suitable when it was taken out?

You were covered at the time of sale because he was employed.
If you didn't need it due to good sick pay, another income, savings ets, make a complaint.
Some cc companies only keep 6 years worth of staements, so it depends on who it was with.
