Australian visa

Basically we travel to see my daughter in Melbourne in 7 weeks time and was wondering what the position is regarding visas. I have a newer style passport so know I can get a free electronic visa but my wife's passport isn't electronic. Is she able to get a free visa as she seems to think the only options available are to pay $115 aus or renew her current passport which doesn't run out until June 2014. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an older style passport and I certainly didn't pay $115 for a visa. I think that you need an evisitor visa. Have a look at the following website. It is the official Australian Government website so you won't get caught for unofficial charges
http://www.immi.gov.au/visas/visitor/651/applicants.htmI need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 20130 -
I go to Oz often and get my visa free from whomever I buy my flights from. Have a good time.0

For some reason my wife has got it into her head that from July 2013 she will need to pay this 115 dollars. The immi website still isn't clear0

Ask the agent you bought your flights from, I never have to pay.0

Thanks again
that's a shame, I was going to suggest you sorted her visa and kept the 115 dollars for yourself :-)The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
