Hi guys, 2 new parents here who are after abit of advise please, we have been told various bits of info.
I'll start with our p60 earnings from last year which are 14043 for my partner who is currently on maternity leave for 9 months this has just commenced as we had our daughter 3 weeks ago.
My earnings were 16300 for the last years earnings.
My question is are we entitled to anything other than child benefit which I have posted off the forms last week and I understand that to be £20 a week.
We were told we would get a discount off our council tax and have been in too see the council who have told us we are just out the threshold.
I have looked into working tax credits and again its my understanding that because its based on last years earnings and not current we wouldn't be entitled to anything.
Whilst speaking to the council they said we would be entitled to child tax credits which is something I havn't heard of. Can anybody tell me anything about this, what sort of parameters it works on and potentially what we could get.
Its all very confusing and I know the easy answer is to phone up and spend hours on the phone to somebody who probably knows less than the folk on here.
Thankyou for your help
