Keratosis Pliaris vs. Mineral Oil

Options
After spending most of my 43 years suffering from KP and failing to find anything, on prescription or over the counter, that helped much but after deciding to ditch products containing mineral oils I've seen a dramatic, almost miraculous improvement in my KP.

I use a shower gel without mineral oil, currently Body Shop Moringa, with a shower puff, followed by a moisturising lotion also mineral oil free, currently Crabtree and Evelyn Jojoba.

If I'd realised it was so simple I'd have made the change years ago. I do wonder why none of the various dermatologists I've seen in the last 30 years have mentioned it!!

    Glad you've found something :)

I've got KP too but it mainly seems to flare up when the seasons change. Either autumn or spring, its not something I really understand: summer to hotter summer, no flare up, cold to freezing, no flare up, so its either the change of clothes I have (sleeves to sleeveless...etc) or its the month and in fact I'm reacting to the month...(no I don't buy this either!)

I had found Eucerin with 10% urea worked quite well, you need to use it after you wash each day and the bit-by-bit results really show after a week or two. Made enough of a difference that I stocked up 3 years ago with two bottles of the stuff, but as you need so little as it spreads quite far that I have no need to purchase any more!

I spotted an OZ brand called MooGoo in a chemist and mentioned it to my hairdresser who suffers from KP. She bought the MSM cream 200mls was I think around £16-17. Totally cleared her KP up!!!!

It's described as "soap free", whatever that means but it does contain SLES. I don't have a problem with sulphates, so it doesn't bother me. I know it's supposed to be an irritant but I always rinse myself thoroughly.
