Does anyone have any experience of using these people for breakdown cover. They have offered me an annual premium of £39 for recovery to home, which I currently have with the AA and this will be going up to over £120 a year!!

Any experience of these guys? Are they a good company to use or should I stick with the AA? How long do they take to respond to callouts?

Never heard of them so can't help on that side, but you must have very comprehensive cover with the AA for it to be costing over £120.
Get prices from the RAC and Greenflag as well, and make sure you're comparing similar levels of cover.

I pay Greenflag about the same for recovery only, only drawback is that they use various contractors and not their own staff. Changed from the AA as prices were too high and their relay meant having to change recovery vehicles every hundred miles or so. Suggest you stick with the established breakdown companies.
  • the other two are about £85 annually.
Its a 13 year old Corsa which is why the price is probably so high and i have had 2 call outs this year

If no one has any advice on smart rescue ill probably stick to one of the others as theyll be a bit more reliable

I have used start rescue for the last 2 years. The price has never gone up at renewal & they send me through a 10% discount code to use each year. I use there app on the iphone which if I have a breakdown will trace where I am and then they call me. Even though I have been a member for 2 years, I have never broken down so cant say how there service is.

I pay Greenflag £39 for recovery only, this is with the IAM discount and presumably a no claims discount. Last time I had to request recovery was 12 years ago and everything went well with a txt back advising me of expected time of recovery vehicle arrival.

    I'm with them!

Have been for three years. Called out twice. With me in 50 mins. No issues. Strongly recommend!
  • I contacted the AA today saying id leave if they didnt lower the price so ive managed to get cover for the same price I pay now.
Thanks for all your replies. Ill definately remember Smart Rescue in the future :)

    Somebody had better suggest Autoaid:

    http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/

This company has a good reputation, and it's £39 for comprehensive cover. The only potential issue is that you have to pay yourself at the time of a claim, then claim the money back from Autoaid later. But from the reports I have read here this process is quick and easy.
