New House and Marriage

Hi all,

Me and my partner just got married and purchased our first house together.

Everything is registered to my parents address so I can still get all mail but wanted to know if there was an order in which we should update documents to our new address?

Also is there any cheap way to update our passports ? what happens if we wait to they expire ?

Thanks

You don't need to change address on passport, one of you will need to change to your married name.

No specific order for the others, but the driving license is the one which carried penalties for failing to update.

Driving license is one you should update quickly. In theory you can be fined for having an out of date address on your license.

I didn't think that passports had postal addresses on them? As per above, if one or both of you are changing your name then you will need to update your passport. Although this is only an issue if you book a holiday in a name that differs to that shown on your passport.

There is no need for her to change her name on the passport. Just remember to book travel in the same name as in the passport. She can change the name to her married name on renewal.
