Removing old flaking paint from external render?

Evening,
Finally getting round to adding some kerb appeal to the house and need to repaint some external render. However, I'll need to remove the old flaking paint - just wondering what would be the best way to do this?
Parts of it are so bad that they can be removed by hand, but what about the rest? Attack it with a hot air gun?

Without looking at your pic you'll be needing a wire brush and lots of elbow grease.

If there's a lot (doesn't look as though there is in the photo, but there may be elsewhere) it may be worth hiring a pressure washer.
Makes it much quicker and easier than a wire brush, especially if the surface is irregular. That's what I've been doing today, blasting the loose paint of roughcast render that was next to impossible to take off with a wire brush because of the texture.Solar install June 2022, Bath

A stiff yard brush will generally shift a fair bit, especcially if it's getting flakey, then finish off with a wire brush.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
