i am on a fixed rate tarriff online dual fuel paid my direct debit. earlier this month i asked to change the date of my DD which they agreed as the 24th ( tomorrow). further i asked if the rate they were charging could be reviewed and after a lot of umming and arring it was agreed that it would be reduced to £110 a month from £124.
logged into my bank account today to find they had attempted to take £124 yesterday, and now i amon the phone being held in a queue to the complaints department. will update ! GRRRR!
don't get downhearted if you don't win today-you may win tomorrow

Did you reveive written advance notice your monthly payment would be reduced to £110 starting tomorrow?
Were you unaware they were going to take any payment yesterday?

If so, you are fully protected by the terms of the DD guarantee.
All claims should be made direct to your bank. If you contact the originator, they should refer you to your bank to make a claim.

Indeed, you'll probably need to arrange to pay the £110 you expected to have to tomorrow.
And you'll need to square things with the supplier. Often they decide to take you off the existing tariff and/or payment system as soon as thet discover a reclaim is made (unless you sort this out with them - they may say they need to set up a new DDI)

If your monthly payments are £110 or £124 every month then the account you are withdrawing them from should not be run such as an odd £14 makes a blind bit of difference. Although you were right to be miffed and had the right to exercise the guarantee it seems an unnecessary step. You have lost one instalment and by the time it is corrected you now will be paying more than £110 per month (whereas if you had let the £124 go through you could have knocked another quid off your following instalments). Your wounded ego has resulted in higher instalments rather than lower.

Of course their systems should be more robust to protect cases where the error may cause difficulty - but it would have been better for you to just ride with it and give them another iteration to get it right.
