Just to update, which may or may not help you rtbcomp:

I got another letter through apologising that they missed my first appointment (the 1st one they phoned to rearrange half way through the timeslot) and gave me £44 compensation - £22 for missing the appointment, and £22 for them not noticing it.

All in all I'll have £66 off my next bill thanks to missed smart meter appointments - part of me wishes they'd have missed a few more!

On a side note though, when it did get fitted and the engineer couldn't find the service fuse he'd initially cancelled the job before he came back and it didn't update on their database so my online account still shows my old meter serial no. and asks me to book and appointment for my smart meter, so I had to spend just under half an hour on the phone to them yesterday which is chargeable to me on my mobile, even an 0800, to get them to update it their end!

Is a missed appointment where they just don't turn up, rather than when they ring to re-arrange it, in my case the day before.

NPG did ring me back and told me that Freedom Network Services would be in touch to arrange a time. I got a letter from them 3 weeks ago and nothing since.

I don't think it would count if they called before the appointment to re-arrange. I think in the case of my first appointment it was only because they rang half way through the timeslot that it counted as a missed one.
