which is best for laptop???

hubby purchased laptop for me last november for £399, at time he was talked into taking out a £7.99 a month accidental damage insurance policy with pc world. since then i have had a few accidents with laptop where i have burned the silver casing in places and also burned off 6 of the letters all with cigarettes (dont ask how). i decided last month it was silly still paying all this money every month when they would probably back out of any repairs by claiming the burns made the policy useless, hubby disagreed so i rang the hotline and after half hour could not get an answer either way as all the operaters disagreed with eachother so i cancelled. reassuring myself that by putting that £7.99 away i could buy a new by the time anything major happened to it. as always 2 days later the whole thing just seemed to freeze!! so we took it to pc world rather grudgingly with my prepared speech how the two incidents were not connected. as it was only 6 months old they took a look at it for free anyway thankfully and re-booted the whole thing deleting months of saved drivel. before we left he mentioned that if we had the £7.99 policy with them perhaps we should consider sending laptop off to have my keys replaced as it would come under accidental damage. left store pretty p@@@@d. anyway!!!! to save you further boredom i will speed up the story. so we managed to re-instate the policy and despite burn marks they did honour the policy and replaced missing keys. but the cost of £7.99 still irked me, it just seemed to high. so today was contemplating wjether any other accidents might be covered by my house insurance whena pop up showed https://www.laptopguard.co.uk and they are offering accidental cover for £39 a year which is a third of what i am paying. has anyone had any dealings with this company or similar? and does what they offer look any good? not sure if excess on house insurance is £50 or £100 and would it be worth going through my house insurance and not bother with either of them? sorry if so long winded

I'd go for Home Insurance unless the other cover provides some kind of warranty and you think that would be good. £7.99 a month or £39 a year sounds steep to cover a £400 item for AD. Are you sure this is the full extent of the cover?

I have accidental cover on my nationwide house contents policy....its about £4-5 a month and covers any item up to the value of a stated amount (£1800 in our case) in/out the house (there are 1 or 2 exclusions but not many). This includes theft and accidental cover.
