Warning for BT Yahoo email users

Options
... messages you send may be blocked as "Spam" by other email services and don't get through, and you may not even know it.

I've had this when trying to send to peoples' accounts on two other email services. And someone else I know with a BT Yahoo account has had the same problem.

But even worse, the notification message (telling me that my email had been rejected) was itself categorised as Spam by BT, presumably because they're getting loads of them.

I raised a query with one of the email services I sent to, and they helpfully responded but said it's BT's problem as they've got themselves onto categorised as spammers on anti-spam databases.

So if you have a BT Yahoo account, log into webmail and check your Spam folder, to see if there are notification messages saying recent emails have been rejected. Might also be worth using another route to contact people who haven't replied to you ...

BT have just switched mail providers. Although you can still read webmail through Yahoo, the actual mail provider is now Critical Path. Unfortunately, they have already got onto many of the anti-spam lists.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Really? That wasn't very clever of them, then!

I've had the opposite problem in the last couple of weeks. One of my mail providers (Newnet) and sending TO @btinternet.com addresses and the result is BAD REPUTATION errors. Newnet say they aren't on any blacklists and its BT's fault...

... and tonight I had a rejection message telling me an email I sent on Friday (which I originally thought may have got through) had failed because it had timed out. :(
