Confusion on energy comparisons
Hi, any one have the same problem? Went on to Moneysupermarket to compare duel energy prices and was told that we could save £174 per year if switching from Scottish Power Online fixed energy to npower. Using moneysavingexpert energy club was told that there were no better deals than with our current energy supplier! How's that?? And I'm not talking cricket!!

Welcome to the forum.
If you are on a fixed price tariff that is coming to an end in the next year, some comparison websites make the assumption that you will then switch to the company's(expensive) standard tariff.
e.g. If you have 6 months before your tariff expires, they will calculate cost as 6 months on the fixed tariff and 6 months on the standard tariff.0 -

The MSE Cheap Energy club uses moneysupermarket.com for its comparisons.
If you got a different output, I think you must have made a different input

Try several comparison sites as they all have different ways of working it out. Once you've narrowed down your search, do your own sums based on the actual tariffs and your kw'h usage.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
