I can't believe this has happened!!!
So John Barrowman (Captain Jack in Dr Who, presenter on Strictly Come Dancing etc.) is, as pretty much everyone knows, gay. He's been with his partner, and more recently husband, Scott Gill, for twenty years.
Last weekend he attended a publicity party in the USA for Entertainment Weekly (sometimes abbreviated as EW).
It is an American magazine, published by the Time division of Time Warner, that covers film, television, music, Broadway theatre, books and popular culture. (Time Warner - for instance they own Warner brothers, who make films like... the Harry Potter series, Batman and TV like Buffy.)
These parties have a red carpet where the celebrities pose for publicity pictures - sometimes with their spouses, or maybe their latest fling.
They wouldn't let John Barrowman walk the red carpet with Scott. http://www.whosay.com/johnbarrowman/photos/381482?wsref=tw

I must admit, I was a little put off seeing him kissing men on Torchwood but that's probably because I thought he was undeniably handsome and before I realised he was gay would have enjoyed the odd dream or two lol.
However, having said that.., not allowing him to walk a red carpet with a boyfriend or husband is so wrong, hypocritical and unjust I can't understand it.0 -
Clearly he didn't feel that strongly about it as he still went to the party, thus endorsing their homophobia.0
-
- He may well have known about it beforehand.
- He was possibly contracted to attend.
- Scott might not necessarily want to be in the limelight & on a red carpet.

Gay marriage is still a hot topic in the US and it would have been very controversal. Middle America still has a lot of catching up to do <shrug>
He still chose to attend (and walk the carpet-he could have skipped it) ......... and apparently leaked what happened..thus bringing the topic into the public forum. He's not daft is John.
His tweet makes it clear he wasn't happy July 21, 2013Me at the @EW party but they wouldn't let @scottmale down the red carpet with me. JbI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Or maybe it was for another reason? as it appears from the above that partners dont always walk down the carpet?Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
I need to vent
And there's a board specifically for that (and for praise & warnings) here:
