I'm always slightly saddened when I see a taxi pull up outside someone's house and sound their horn instead of getting out of the car.

The person inside the cab is usually overweight, often grossly.

I wonder if one observation has any bearing on the other.

Thankfully the firms I've used around here will ask if you want a callback, which is basically a couple of second ring to your phone to alert you they are outside. If the taxi sat outside bipping, I'd personally be very annoyed!

Not so much horns but we have people just leaving their diesel engines idling, right outside our window (terraced house), and diesel engines on idle are loud at 12.30am. It's sat there for a good 10 minutes, just turn it off!

This is something that annoys me, I have to say. I could understand it if it were a block of flats & they didn't want to have to climb numerous flights of stairs, but when they are too lazy to get out of the car & walk perhaps 4 metres or so to knock on the front door of a house, it makes you understand why there are so many big fatties around these days.

Is it really necessary to disturb countless people in their homes, some sleeping just because they refuse to budge from the driving seat? When I call a cab I always tell them to knock for me when they arrive.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I think you should have run out there in your nightie shrieking like a mad woman. Preferably with a rocket launcher in hand to blow their stupid car sky high. If you're feeling particularly neighbourly you could suggest they get out of the car first I guess.
