The lock on my upvc door has stuck fast.
I know how to change the cyclinder once the door is open, but i'm unable to open it.
Can anyone give me an idea on how to open the door so that i can change the lock.
Thanks for any help.

Locking: Close door, lift handle, release handle, insert key in cylinder, turn key, remove key
Unlocking: Insert key, turn key, remove key, depress handle, open door
Is that a fair description of the operation of your door? And if so, how far do you get with unlocking?
(Last person with this problem never came back, but I'll reuse my post)You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
if the above doesn't work google lock snapping if it is a old style euro lock , remove the handle and snap the lock off.Pure Dog Loving0

Hi
It may be expansion due to hot weather
Is it on the sunny side of the house?
Try it when it when/if it cools down
Lubricate cylinder
Good luck0 -
Try lifting the handle up when you are trying to unlock the door. Also 'bounce' the handle a bit at the top of it's movement IYSWIM, as you unlock."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

VallHaller yes thats a description of how my door opens when it works. The key turns but doesn't let me open the door.
I've tried opening the door at different times of the day and night, it doesn't make a difference.
Thanks for the help given so far, but still need to remove the cyclinder.0 -
Hi,
This happened to our door last month - it was the centre gearbox that needed replacing. The man who came to fix it just forced the handle downwards and it opened.0
