I posted before about my new gas cooker which took 45 mins to cook chips at gas mark 9 and 1hour 10 mins for chicken again at gas mark 9 top shelf.
I have just had the engineer round who stuck a bit of wire in the oven ( a temp probe ? ) and said its fine
Where do I stand?
I am extremly unhappy with it and intend to try and return it as it's less than 2 weeks old and in my opinion not suited for the purpose for which I brought it.
What are my rights?
Need urgent help as want to go to Comet later and try to sort this out. I cannot have a cooker that takes so long to cook.
I have used it just 3 times in the 10 days that I have had it, what am I to do?????
Help me please someone

you say the engineer carried out a repair? Have you tested it to see if it works, you didn't say?
when you turn the oven on the flame should be at a by-pass rate (low flame) within a min or 2 the flame should go to full gas (high flame) it is very noticable.
If it is still taking ages then you are well within your rights to take it back as it is not doing the job it was sold to do0 -
You could consider buying an oven thermometer and then test the oven using various settings. That way you'll have definite evidence that the oven is not heating to the required temperature.:jI gave up jogging for health reasons; my thighs rubbed together and my knickers caught fire!0

The engineer didn't fix anything. He just stuck a wire ( temp probe? ) in it for 5 mins and said it was reaching correct temp. I argued that it may well reach correct temp but does not maintain it or it would not take so long to cook simple things.
Anyway I went down to my local Comet last night to try to sort it out. And I must say I was so surprised, no fight no problem. I explained the problem and they agreed it was not correct. I said I did not want another of the same make, and again this was ok. So I have gone for a duel fuel cooker now which will be delivered on Saturday.
Husband jumping for joy at the thought of getting his dinner before 8pm each night :j
I must really sing the praises of my local Comet and the customer service they gave me. It has restored my faith.
Thank you to those who replied, hopefully come Saturday my cooking hell will be at an end.Sometimes I wake up grumpy, other times I let him sleep !:rotfl:0
