Is it a declined/cancelled insurance cover if your insurer doesnt want to renew?

Ok
I am doing quite a few light visual mods, I took out the black trim and colour coded it with the silver body, put allow wheels on.
I want to lower the car and add wheel spacers to the rear as the wheels go into the body a bit too much. I would never put spacers in drive wheels, but it's just the rear wheels in a fwd car that go in too much and I would require spacers to look right because the offset would be more obvious to see when the car is lowered.
Anyway, word on the grapevine is Admiral (my insurer) are happy with light customisations but anything involved wheel offsets, suspension mods etc they're unlikely to want to cover for. Lowering is generally OK but offsets are a big no no to them.
I can get different offset alloys for the rears (but nobody sells that and I'll have to get it specially ordered which is expensive)
Obviously I declare everything, and phone up insurance company before carrying out the mods so that I have guarantees that the insurance company is happy with them.
I am wondering what would happen if I end up putting more and more mods and have 5-6 of them and then come renewal the insurance company has cold feet and says "sorry we can't extend you cover for another year with these mods".
Is that a decline/cancellation that I have to notify all future insurers about?

It would be a decline I would imagine.0

I believe not. They just don't want the new risk. No different to selling your Fiesta, buying a Ferrarri and finding that your old insurer doesn't insure Ferraris. A decline to quote isn't the same as a cancellation - if it was I'd have to insure all future insurers that Saga once declined to quote for me because I'm not 50.0

Wheel spacers eek... I thought they died out in the 70's.
Buy the correct wheels that fit. Dont use spacers.
Spacers and lowering could put the tyres into contact with the arch. Dont forget some wheels actually lean in the corners.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I'm not going to turn it into a chavmobile, all the mods are sensible. It's a mk4 golf and the wheel arch gaps are huge. I'm just lowering it so that the gap is 2/3 lower.
He's a pic of the car on the net. The suspension will be a little bit stiff so body roll wouldn't be so bad. The body roll on the stock suspension is pretty extreme though.
After you lower it, the rear wheels look very deep into the wheel well so need to be brought out by 15mm.0 -
This isn't a decline or cancellation that you have to declare. It's a refusal to quote.
If you had to declare those, I'd be declaring a few thousand of them by now as when I go for a quote on one of those comparison sites of the 100 or so insurers only 4 or 5 will quote.0 -

a good set of spacers will cost £100. You're right, I think it makes more sense to buy rear wheels with a wider [smaller] offset, as is done by a lot of mk4 golf drivers.0 -
Have you asked your wheel supplier if they do the wheels in the offset you require, some of the better ones hold blanks that they will machine to the required offset at no extra charge. The 5x100 pcd does not help though as it is pretty much limited to vw and a few others that large offsets.0

Why not ask them first BEFORE doing any mods, if they say they probably wont cover you then either cancel yourself and find someone who will or forget about the wheel mods.0
