Refund on service

Hi
I am looking for some guidance as I am no sure what to do.
We booked a photographer for our wedding in February. He did not turn up on the day. After the day he apologised and promised us an albumn of photos taken by friends and family on the day and a sitting if we wanted it. He collected a memory stick from me with about 80 photos on. We did not hear anything from him for 2 months. When we rang him he said that because there were some that were facebook ones he could not do any thing with him. By this time we had lost faith in him and I asked him for the refund that was originally promised by him and some compensation which he agreed to inwriting, though we did not discuss a figure. This was back I April. Despite chasing him on a number of occasions which is is writing. We got no further. I rang him again last week but just got his answer phone but I did not leave a message. Today I composed a letter to him requesting our refund which was £45 and £55 compensation to cover the loss of professional photos and the time and effort in chasing him as well as the memory stick that we have not had returned.
When I arrived home today I have received a cheque for the £45 refund and an elevan page photo book with just 8 pictures fr our wedding repeated again and again.
My question is do I have to accept the refund and the albumn. I feel we have been treated unfairly by the photographer. I know we have not spent a lot but we have not received the lovely professional photos we were hoping for on our wedding day.
What should I do or should I just leave it?
I am looking for some guidance as I am no sure what to do.

As I understand it, you can only sue for compensation to cover actual losses.
But you could ask for a goodwill payment. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
If you want to risk pursuit - raise a small claim.... BUT if he has no assets and is not willing to pay, you run the risk of losing more. As it is I get £100, you might be better to walk away.0

What was the figure of £55 based on?
I think you should get something for the loss of enjoyment, but not sure what tbh. Difficult one.
You should certainly make your experience public, write a few reviews and negative comments on social media websites.0 -
You should at least either send a "letter before action" or better still prepare all the papers for a fast track claim and then send them to him - so he knows you will follow through. Make sure you say precisely what you want him to pay.
And then follow through.
Good luck - sounds horrendous0 -
