aww i see.
Will they do a credit check everytime i ask for limit increase??0 -
Not always but they might. You can obtain a copy of your credit history from experian. You can get it free for the first month and see what checks have been done.0

But if you missed the payments with Barclaycard, they would already know without doing a credit check. They just wouldn't know about other lenders.0

You know, even if they refuse, it might only be temporary. It is what happened to me in the first mont h I had my credit card which had only £500 limit. And a few month later they upgraded it without me asking!
However, if you need to use your card, you can repay part of the balance beforehand so you can spend more on it. It's what they proposed me to do to be able to buy a flight ticket!0 -
so why would they give me a 700 limit and then refuse my 1500 request? :beer:0

You can always ask - but doubt you will get
. They would give you £700.00 as it is less of a risk to them than £1500.00. Barclaycard are known for giving low limits to almost everyone. They are not really the best of card to have.
Why not try for IF, EGG or Virgin?

Nationwide seem to be quite generous on limits (If you can get hold of one).
I never got a student credit card when I started uni... I got a nationwide cash reward because I was travelling a lot during the summer before i started and already had a nationwide current account (back in the days when you could get a fantastic 1% cashback on overseas purchases! ).
The limits and increases are much larger than a student card, and 1.5 years down the line my limit has increased £1,000 from its original starting amount. Started at about £1,300 and has automatically increased by £300-£400 every 6 months for the last 18 months... and is currently at about £2,300.
Use it, pay off in full each month and on time... Makes it easy to obtain other cards with good deals (0%)
and high cash back cards
