Hi. Can anyone advise on the problem I have please. Full story below, but basically cancelled account with 1&1 internet and receiving further invoices. Who is the head honcho at Asquith House where they are based in UK? Phone number takes me to call centre in Phillipines. Thanks guys. Mags........
My son opened a web page account through 1 & 1 internet approx 2 years ago (not sure tbh, through an offer at that time), he was under 18 and we used my Paypal account to make payments. He has not used this web page since the first couple of months and I had not noticed any payments to them (certainly not any sums that jumped out at me). In January 2013 I noticed a payment of £34 to 1&1 Internet. On investigation I realised it was re the above. I rang them to cancel the account, but they would not speak to me as I am not account holder. I paid the £34, cancelled any further payments through Paypal and told my son to sort it. He had a telephone conversation with them between Feb-March and he stated at that point that he did not use the account and requested cancellation. He said the lady was under no illusion that the account was to be cancelled at that point. At the end of March 2013 we received two invoices, first for £35.96 dated 17th March and second for £11.99 dated 22nd March. I thought the second invoice was a final invoice for part-payment after cancellation in April and superceded the one for £35.96. We wrote a letter, signed by my son, stating immediate cancellation required dated 21 May. This was sent recorded delivery to their head office at Asquith House, Slough and a cheque for £11.99 enclosed. This cheque was processed by them. I had asked for confirmation of cancellation but received no further communication from them. At this point we thought it was finally sorted. But No. Next received a letter from Debt Collection Agency dated 14 June for amount of £50.96, this was the £35.96 on 17 April invoice, plus £15 fee. I was despondent at this point and just wanted it finished. I rang the agency and paid full amount and have reference code for this. Finished? No. Have this week received another invoice from 1&1 Internet dated 16 July for £71.96. Have tried finding the top Execs name at UK Office, Asquith House, Slough, but tel no. takes me through to call centre in Phillipines I was told to contact Faraz Zia through billing and she assured me he was based at Asquith House in the UK. She would not discuss if account is closed (as it obviously isn’t) as I am not account holder. Sigh. We got this letter on Saturday 20th and my son has just this morning gone on holiday for a week so we cannot ring and him speak to them until next Monday. Looking on the internet, there is no mention of this man (Mr Zia), but plenty of people having major problems with this company. Could you please help me get this finished with please? I am not paying any further money, that is for sure, but I am worried about the implications of us as a household being referred to debt agency. How can they keep hounding people like this?
Advice gratefully received.

Just bumping this one up, as no replies as yet.
Any help would be appreciated :-/sassybird0 -
There have been previous reports of this happening with 1&1 - since
they're German, they seem to like using lawyers from the Fatherland
Just did a search for "1&1" in thread titles on this and the Praise, Vent & Warnings board and nowt comes up. So either I've put in the wrong thing to search for, or the forum search is on the fritz. Both are possible0 -
Contact the co (recorded letter maybe better in this case). Tell them that you are disputing the charges as the account was closed on the date your son did it.
Advising that if they wish to take him to court then feel free to do so.
As far as you go, you are not party to the contract.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
