Getting Rid of a tree

I have two Conifer trees in my garden which I am getting rid of.

I have cut them down so that only the stumps remain, I am wanting to know the best way of getting rid of them. Is there a way to kill the roots so its easier to dig out (as the roots will go under the concrete of the main garden). I know I'm going to have to dig them out to stop them growing back but was wondering if anyone knew of a way of making it any easier?

Any ideas?

Conifers tend not to grow back when cut into old wood, so not a problem from that point

However as the stumps rot they may help fungus such as honey fungus to be introduced

Depending on finaces & time, pay, or hire a stump grinder, or drill holes in stumps & top up with strongest weed killer you can find, there are stump / brushwood / bramble killers on the market, you need one of those, not Weedol

It will take a year or so, and stump will remain but be dead

Best option, if affordable, is stump grinder

Stump grinding is about £90, and there will still be old roots in the ground for quite a while so expect mushrooms and other fungi for a while
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring

Stump Grinder would be best not like my grandad's method of dispatching a large conifer, copper nails and a gallon of Four *

A brown and very dead, thirty foot conifer ablaze is quite an impressive sight. :rotfl:

    You don't need to worry.
If you "despatch" an established conifer by sawing of as low as possible, it simply will not re grow

Getting shut of the tree is the real question;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
