New boiler in Bedroom
Options
Im a council tenant, and Gas Networks have recently laid gas pipes in our area, at the request of the council, and they are now starting to install boilers into homes. Im a efw months from getting done, but my neighbour was done first in a trail, and his boiler was placed in his bedroom....
Is this safe and allowed?

Yes and yes.

All modern boilers are sealed flues, so yes it's perfectly safe if the boiler is installed and commissioned correctly.
The downside is that some people don't like the noise in a bedroom. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Yes it's safe and yes it's allowed, however virtually all gas boilers nowadays have a fan, there will also probably be a circulating pump inside it as well and the gas valve & burner will make a noise when it lights and whilst it's burning so it won't be silent.
Some can be quite noisy and I would be reluctant to have one in my bedroom because of the noise - my wife moans when we have a fan in the bedroom she'd go potty if there were a gas boiler in there. I would try and get it located somewhere it won't disturb you - councils do tend to take the easy and cheap way even if it's not ideal.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
it needs to go on a outside wall. I live in a 4 in a block... upstairs are in the kitchens, but as i have a back door, the is no other place other than a bedroom! though i think it will go in the back room as opposed into the front roomPromo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?0

I think the OP is saying that the council is insisting it goes on an outside wall, not the technical possibility. The chances are they have entered into a contract where the boiler will only be fitted to an outside wall in order to minimise the flue costs and impact on other parts of the property.0

Noise-wise, if for space reasons it can not be fitted in the kitchen or hallways then bedrooms are preferable to living rooms. One thing you do not want is a shoddy, tiny council flat with the boiler in the living room. At least with the bedroom the boiler will be off at the time when the room is occupied.0
