Swimming pool filter - can i connect a vac to it?

Previous house owners left a large swimming pool and the whole set up for us, and i have tried to get it all set up and going. I have Triton Tr40 pump & filter and a triangle head vac with a long hose. Does anyone know if the vac connects to the filter / pump or do i need a stand alone water vac to hoover the pool? I have looked through the instructions and nothing seems to mention it? I have noticed that there is a waste pipe on the filter and it had a vac end, so i wonder if thats where i connect the vac head?

Just remove waste collection basket of the pool by water outlet return(where water exits pool) and push hose in.

The triangular head and hose need to be in the pool and filled with water prior to connection to avoid getting air in system.

You should backwash and rinse filter after vacuuming.

just make sure you keep the water balance chemicals right, and check often too, otherwise your now clear pool will go green, looks bad, often cost loads to fix in extra chemicals and time, and apparently blocks filters. Leave it too long and slime forms on the bottom and sides which may manully have to be scrubbed off.

Also as that sandfilter gets blocked, the pressure on the gauge will rise and you will have to backwash the filter - that pressure gauge is your friend
