Ambi Pur (3volution?)-refilling with essential aromatherapy oil?

Hi all!

like to keep a fresh smelling house(!). My G/F bought about 6 of the ambi pur plug in 3volution thingy's-must admit it smells nice but am aware the chemicals in them ain't good for you!

I'm quite 'green' in other ways...white vinegar for cleaning, bicarb for keeping fridge smelling sweet, etc etc.

Have read online it's quite easy to refill the glass bottles-with the aid of a blunt knife(!). Like the idea of filling with oil that has essential oil in it-lavender, or lemon etc. Not only will it be cheaper & eco-friendly but will smee nice & be good for you i hope!

Has anyone else done this?

I read somewhere that 6-8 drops pure essential aromatherapy oil to the mini bottle mixed with oil-sound about right?

Do you need a special 'carrier' oil-or will say light olive oil be ok? I've found a place online that sells spare wicks if needed.
Would welcome any feedback form anyone that's done this!:beer::beer:

You will need a very low viscosity carrier oil. I'm not sure if light virgin olive oil will be suitable. As the oil is heated, it will probably leave sticky deposits in the vent holes.

The perfume bottles they supply aren't very good for those suffering from respiratory problems such as asthma. The same goes for the fine mist air fresheners.

hi! Thanks for that. i assume I could get the oil online or from a craft shop?

When you mention the perfume bottles-assume you mean the 'chemical' perfume ambi pur provide-& the respiratory issues would not be a problem with essential oils?

Yes I was referring to the chemical perfume bottles.

I think the carrier oils you find for aromatherapy are quite light. Have a look at the ones designed for vaporisers/humidifiers. Probably available in health shops and online.

I just want to say you that you will need a very low viscosity service provider oil. I'm not sure if mild virgin mobile extra virgin coconut oil will be appropriate as the oil is warmed, it will probably keep difficult remains in the release gaps the fragrance containers they provide aren't very excellent for those being affected by breathing issues such as bronchial asthma the same goes for the excellent water air fresheners.

I didn't realise Virgin Mobile had branched out into selling oil too ;)
