This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Trying to get ready for work, do online banking and say good morning here too .... in other words, my usual dash!

Weather appears to be about to break, it's very dark here and was definitely cooler last night. I think the threatened thunderstorms may be on the way.

Something with lamb mince for dinner tonight, possibly home made kebabs, and salad. Cold omelettes for lunches. Weigh day tomorrow so will let you know how the diet is doing then.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs them or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Good Morning chums ,warm already here in Kent.two of my DGS break up at lunchtime today and the other one tomorrow The oldest one finished last friday .So I will be looking after them all for the next six weeks .but they are no trouble and great fun to be with we have lots of things planned out to do and for two weeks of it we are away on holiday anyway.
Just spoke to my brother who lives in France and hopefully myself and both my DDs are going to visit him in September before I have my op. for the weekend.Silly begger had forgotten his passport had expired and so its easier for us to go to him than for him to come to us.Its around 240 euros to renew his british passport in France as he is a resident there and has been for almost ten years.Daft that he can go almost anywhere on the continent apart from his country of birth with out a passport The bureauocracy involved for renewing in France takes ages.
Right time for a cuppa, have a good day everyone and make sure you have lots of sun cream on if your out in the sun as its supposed to be quite fierce today

Warm but dull here this morning.

I need to speak nicely to my dad as I need to go down the local tip to get shot of some rubbish now.

    Morning everyone :j
I've just weighed myself and it was NOT good. Apparently eating loads of chocolate and cake makes you put weight on....who knew!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Never mind, I'm back on it like a car bonnet today so hopefully I will lose this gain by next week.

I've just loaded up the slow cooker with a very healthy beef curry for tea. The girls will have sausage casserole though as they don't like spicy food. I like hot food but not mouth searingly hot so a madras is about my limit.

The girls are rushing around and getting themselves organized for school. DD13 is going camping for 2 days and DD12 is off to Crealy theme park so they are very excited. I'm looking after my grandson for the morning so we are going on the bus (which is his favourite thing) and I shall be taking in a load of forms and evidence of earnings to the council. We may pop into the pet shop so he can see the animals and fish and will probably buy evil kittens a new toy to try and keep them occupied.:D

Hope everyone gets to enjoy some sunshine and gentle hugs to all who would like one.
    Cheers m'dears x

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy and overcast here, much cooler too. Washing on line, tried to do all the washing as rain/storms are forecast for this week from tonight/tomorrow. Plants watered.

DH up and off to work not quite stupid early.

DS2 up and had brekkie now watching tv and DS1 still snoring in his pit - DS2 finished school on Friday - so they are now both in full holiday mode!

Had a lovely weekend, and we now have our new to us caravan - really love it and can't wait to use it properly but that's going to be a few weeks away yet! Got back early yesterday afternoon so did manage to get some bits put in, but still have loads at home. We're going to have a sort through everything before we put anything else back - I'm sure we don't use/need lots of things so will have a good sort through. When we left on Saturday morning we were going along the main road and the road signs flashed up that another road was closed - and, of course, it was the road that we needed to be on - DH said lets just keep going and we'll have to follow the diversion if that's the case - we got nearer and nearer and still no more signs saying the road was closed or diversion signs - turns out the problem was (a combine harvester on a low loader trailer had caught fire and they'd had to separate the trailer and main body of the lorry on the hard shoulder) was on the other side carriageway anyway - looks like it had been quite an inferno too as the grass and verge had all been on fire/burnt too - it had all been put out by the time we got there but Police we there directing the traffic.

Yesterday I cooked us roast chicken pieces, new potatoes, carrots, broc and green beans, ice creams for dessert for an early dinner as we'd missed lunch. I also have a large pack of sausages that I took and we didn't eat - so tonight's dinner is pork chops (need to be used up) then tomorrow night we'll have the sausages - had done a menu plan so am just shifting meals around.

Back to work today for me - not sure what it will be - manic Monday or an easier day - we'll have to wait and see.

Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning.

I'm not really a morning person, but last week I found that a little iPad browsing from my bed helped me get up earlier, so I'm trying the same tactic this week.

I want an early start, so I can get things done before it gets too hot, as they say it could get to 34C today.

They ebay parcel run is much less than previously, so I'm pleased about that as it was getting a bit out of hand.

I'll be doing my normal Monday housework, but only stuff that really needs to be done, as I'm not intending to get overheated.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight. I think I'll pick up some salad stuff when I'm out.

    Have a good day

    Morning All

Overcast and cooler here same as yesterday, hopefully it will clear like yesterday, ended up lovely and warm and sunny. 1 load of washing on the line, my bedding in and will do DDs when she gets up.

I have finished work for the holidays, last night's was a lovely easy shift although i will be contacting HR today regarding a nasty note left in our diary.

Got the grass cut yesterday as the bin men come this morning so the cuttings wont be sat in the bin for ages. I think it's due to rain here within the next couple of days so the grass will shoot up. During this warm spell the grass seemed to more or less stop growing (hurrah)!

Going to friends for tea tonight which will be lovely, DD will meet us there from work.

    Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Scorcing here allready, we were meant to be getting rain today, perhaps it will come tomorrow, my poor OH is working outside in it, he has done 1/2 days thurs / fri because its just too hot to be out for a long time.

Planted my lavander yesterday and spent an hour or so chasing the shade around and tidying up a bit, I really need a new garden table and chairs but they are so expensive.

Plans today are to make / cook a quiche this morning before it gets too hot, and have a quick tidy round, will go and see dad at lunchtime, and then do an online shop this afternoon, and maybe a bit more gardening if I can.

Going to have quiche and salad for dinner with some new pots, we had pork kebabs and some veggetable ones yesterday made by OH it was very nice.

Beemuzed sorry to hear your news love xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning all

Warm and sultry here today, thunderstorms are booked in for later on - quite glad as it will clear the air and hopefully put some water in the water butts, I've had to use house water for the last couple of days as they are empty and thats an expense I don't need or want but the lettuces will die if I don't water them!

DD is off school now, DS is still there for 2 days

Plans today are to introduce DD into the world of housework [insert evil laugh here]

DH is struggling at work so expecting him home soon

    Have a cooler day everyone
