Docklands Museum or Museum of Childhood

I have my 3 grandchildren this coming week for seven days and have been busy sorting out things to do. We are going to London one day and Colchester zoo another (we live in Essex). Oliver is 8; Annabel will be 7 on Friday so that's her party day and Joseph is 5.
When we go to London am working back from a special children's hotel tea at 5pm. The main thing we will do will be a fun museum and am dithering between between Docklands Museum and a ride on the Emirates (although they have been on it before they loved it) or the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green and perhaps something like a boat cruise (the tea is near St James Park)
Can anyone comment on the various merits of Docklands Museum or the Museum of Childhood? They have been to Science Museum several times so don't want to do that again this trip. We are going on Wed so have to make up my mind fairly smartish

Hi, I can't help with advice on the museum of childhood but my 12 year old twin boys went to the docklands museum with school last month and both did not enjoy it at all.

Have they been to the imperial war museum? My boys (and their older sister) went and really enjoyed it.

I haven't been to the Docklands Museum, but have been to the Museum of Childhood several times with primary school class trips and staff, parent helpers and children have all enjoyed it.

I went to the Docklands Museum, and didn't see much that my DS9 would have enjoyed. Haven't been the Museum of Childhood though.

There's not much else around the Museum of Childhood. But the Docklands Light Railway is great and you can easily get across to Greenwich aster the Dockland Museum

I've not been to the Museum of Childhood, but found the Docklands Museum pretty dull. If you're near the Emirates, then I guess there's The Crystal very close by:

though TBH that's not terribly exciting either!

My children have all loved the Museum of Childhood, as did I when my Nan took me when I was a child, I have a real soft spot for it.

Another great one for children is the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, that's really hands on and great fun too.
