Thailand - Phuket

Hi,
I will be spending 7 nights in Phuket in February 2014, is anyone aware of any discount codes or good deals on any 4 star (ish) hotels in Phuket. I was hoping to get quite a nice hotel for the week for around £500.

Thanks in advance,
Mark.

Would help if you already knew where you would like to stay.

If you have a fee free debit or credit card, take a look at AtSiam. Agoda may have something of interest too, but unlike AtSiam there are taxes to be added to the headline prices.

I don't like Agoda as it doesn't include takes so it makes comparing prices hard.

    For Thailand I like http://www.asiarooms.com/ and http://www.sawadee.com/

February is fairly peak season in Phuket but there should still be pretty good availability depending on your budget, location and requirements. Personally, I would avoid Patong itself and look at Kata or Karon which are quieter and cheaper.

    Already wrote that :)

Sawadee lost my business when they started using DCC. Don't know if they are still doing it and it's ironic that you are recommending AsiaRooms. Take a closer look and "Prices are exclusive of taxes and service charges".

Sorry I should have added ideally in the Karon or Kata area, I'm not particularly precious on the hotel as long as its at least 4 star, Centara/Hilton etc would be nice if anyone would have any discount codes for those.

    Cheers

Forget about discount codes and use the recommended websites.

For Thailand I always avoid the international chains (unless cashing in some points) as the locally owned hotels will give much better value and a more authentic Thai experience. A Hilton hotel is a Hilton hotel wherever you are.

Start off with Tripadvisor and check out reviews based upon your budget. For a 4* I would say that you are looking at upwards of £50/night at that time of year but you could pay much more/
  • The best place to start for discount hotels is always https://www.trivago.co.uk

Do check the tripadvisor reviews on the hotels though, as 4* can vary wildly in service and accommodation.

Based on the Russians I saw in Phuket you are better off not trying to talk to them.
