Paternity leave pay?

Got the forms sent to me via email the other day from work and 11 year ago I took 2 weeks off when my daughter was born and got full pay for it different company.
I now work for the NHS and looking at these forms I only get £136 a week. My normal wage is usually around £280 a week after tax.
I thought the government was making it easier for men to take some time off after the birth how come I have to lose £144 a week off my wage when I will have a baby to support?
Or am I not understanding the forms right?

Nope, you're understanding them 100% correct, welcome to fatherhood, it's a !!!!!, but its worth it

There was legislation planned which meant, that if your partner returned to work, you would be able to utilise her due maternity leave, for yourself to care for the child. Not sure if its gone through yet though0 -

Sounds right tbh, really unfair as my OH works in retail and gets full pay for 2 weeks...would of thought the NHS would give better tbh.People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
I just wanted to update this to confirm that the NHS does pay full pay while on paternity leave the £136 a week is what they can claim back. I confirmed this with payroll as the clerk to the Matron had sent me the wrong forms0

Just be glad you get anything. Some fathers aren't entitled to any leave to spend time with their newborn children.0

All fathers are eligible as long as they are employed and have worked for the employer for 26 weeks prior to the 15th week before birth.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I believe that qualifies for Paternity Pay, but everyone is entitled to Paternity Leave. Buts its been a few years since i last looked at this0 -
It's true unfortunately. My Oh had saved up his annual leave so he can take 2 weeks off after our baby is born in 6 weeks or so. There was no way he could take such a huge pay drop. As others have said though at least the entitlements are better than nothing: just not very good compared to other countries I have heard.First baby due October 2013 :j0
