PPI claim and CapitalOne
MrFox
I recently wrote to Capital One with a complaint about PPI sold when I took on a Credit card with them in 1999.
Capital One have replied and turned down the claim, stating I applied for the credit card and PPI by post and that it was my choice to tick the box for PPI. So they are saying as it was postal and not involving any discussion with their staff, I had an informed choice to take out the insurance.
They also stated I was eligible as I was working and on reasonable salary, ignoring my comment that I may not have needed the PPI.
The copies provided by Capital One of information supposedly supplied at the time are different from the originals I have, including T&C in a tiny unreadable font.
Do I still have grounds to argue that I didn't need the insurance and that I wasn't given an informed choice?
Thanks to anyone who can advise.

That eliminates a lot of reasons of complaint. In can finish most off by itselfThey also stated I was eligible as I was working and on reasonable salary, ignoring my comment that I may not have needed the PPI.
So, you were eligible for it and they dont need to check financial need as they were not selling it.Do I still have grounds to argue that I didn't need the insurance and that I wasn't given an informed choice?
They didnt sell it to you. You bought it. They dont have to check whether you needed it or not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
