with this in mind I noticed a poster in my local council office while i was paying my council tax this week about homelessness and it said are you homeless or going to be homeless in the next two months then offered help and since you have no family in the area I'd defo contact them asap, explain the situation re deposits and debt and I've no idea why they wouldn't help.0 -

Hmm.. See the thing is, I'm very close to finishing my Masters now. All my lectures have finished, I have just four more tutorials with a personal tutor left (at least one, possibly two of which can be squeezed in before we have to leave current flat), my dissertation deadline is in December, but it's allowed (and apparently not uncommon) to submit by post. I'm just wondering how worthwhile it is tracking down another flat in the area (and possibly getting tied into another contract) for the sake of three tutorials.
Obviously moving is a big deal and there would be the whole finding new jobs issue, but that was going to happen anyway at some point - it's just that we could end up doing it six months earlier than originally planned, with a bit more urgency and with less money.
OH is all up for it after we spoke about it last night, - in fact in a way he made me feel like it wasn't so much a disaster as an oppurtunity to start a new life somewhere we prefer. Which is one way of looking at it I guess.
- it's just you know how you sometimes get that "I'm sure this is a really stupid idea although I can't put my finger on why I think that" voice in your head?! I think maybe if we weren't in debt and had some savings to fall back on I'd be a lot less wary. But then - it is cheaper up north, OH can transfer to a new job fairly easily - it's just me that's the problem (although I suppose 2 months notice would give me plenty of time to start applying) and the cost of such a big move... it just seems a bit drastic to do it on such an impulse.
Thanks for all the hugs by the way, it's really appreciated!"People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

I don't think you are really doing this on impulse, you have been planning to do it for ages, just the timescales have changed. If you want it enough, I'm sure you can manage it, and it sounds to me like you do want it.
Exciting times ahead for you, good luck!0 -
Well, thank you everyone who replied to this.
Just thought I'd update you - the upshot of it is we have decided to give in and move away - back to Wales.
So wish me luck for the next three months of DFW job and house hunting (never know, I may even find a better job!)
Thanks again for the advice, much appreciated."People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

HI, glad you've made a decision, things always seem to get easier once you know what you're going to do, don't you think? Keep posting and let us know how you are getting on.0

Hi Lady Fuschia
Sounds to me like you're making a good decision - especially as your OH can get a transfer easily it does make moving quite a bit easier. Have you got family you could stay with for a couple of weeks at least until you get settled?Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06
