When I watch BBC1 on Sky, not HD the sound is absolutely fine the sync is perfect. However if I put BBC1 HD on the sound is not quite right, I think the sound is a few milliseconds before it should be. Enough to see its out.
Any ideas please

Occasionally there is a sound test card on BBC HD, you can then adjust the audio delay in the settings of your Sky Box.

Sounds like there might be a bit of lag in your TV at HD, but not at SD. Penryn's advice above is excellent, if you've got a PS3 or something you can play the clip on.
Go into your TV's settings and turn off any of the 'enhancements' it may have, espcially ones that apply to HD. I'm thinking noise reducting, motion enhancements etc. All these things require computing power, and may be noticeably slow in HD, but not SD. If you turn everything off and it doesn't work, look for gaming mode, which will throw the picture to the screen as quickly as possible, but mightn't look as good, which benefits gamers shooting each other who want to get rid of this lag.0 -
We have had Sky+ HD for two years now and I didn't notice any sound sync problems until yesterday.
I was watching the Open Golf when I noticed that the sound of the club hitting the ball came a noticeable fraction of a second before the club actually hit the ball.
I assumed it was caused either by the audio and video being sent by separate routes from Muirfield and the video taking a fraction of a second longer to arrive or by the video processing taking slightly longer than audio processing.
I haven’t noticed out of sync sound in other circumstances but I will check next time I have the TV on.0 -

This is exactly what I was watching, you could here the ball being hit a fraction too earlyAll the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
They are probably making it in 3D, so even more video processing.
Sky suggest in the absence of a test card, setting up the audio delay on a live programme such as Sky News.
I've got a couple of DAB radios with different delays, they make a lovely echo when on together in the same room. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
