    Tough for everyone? he's only done two weeks of 12 hour shifts.

    Which can be tough on everyone involved, especially if he has kids and normally spends time out with them at weekends or likes to spend some time with his missus. 12 hour shifts can easily run into 14 hrs if you add travel time so leave for work at 7am and get back home at 9pm, by the time you have had a quick meal and a shower its time for bed.

    This is exactly why its tough ,he is out the door at 5.15 am and back home 20.45 pm .

    I take it TheSaxon is a young person commenting like that !

    I didnt mean to sound so harsh, I would understand if it was a permanent position for the forseeable future. The way the UK is at the minute I assumed most people would be glad of the extra money.

    I am 24, how does my age come into this?

    I don't think he sounded harsh, I agree that extra cash should be grabbed anywhere you can get it. I think when the OP referred to your age she was just pointing out that the older you get, the harder it gets to work the long shifts without it taking its toll on you.
